Conference at NYU on Jurisdictional and Choice of Law Problems Confronting NonProfit Organizations
I'll be commenting on a paper by Rutgers-Camden Law Professor Allan Stein at this two-day conference at NYU Law School. Allan's paper criticizes "The Charleston Principles," announced by a group of state attorneys general in 1999, which set out conditions under which states can regulate solicitation of charitable contributions by out-of-state entities. He says that the principles permit regulation when the out-of-state entities have too-tenuous connections. I'm inclined to think he's right.
